Annual Traditions

These are traditions that portray and highlight those core values that CUIB holds dear as a Catholic Entrepreneurial University

and are celebrated annually, particularly during the Commencement Exercises. They include:

Commencement Processional

The Commencement Processional, is one of CUIB’s traditions, it brings together the entire CUIB community and stakeholders in a joyful celebration. The procession takes place at CUIB’s Campus A Molyko, starting from CUIB’s Block A to the Commencement ground. The procession is led by the University Marshal (Mace Bearer) followed by CUIBY and the Flags Bearers, Graduating Students, Priest and Religious, Non Academic Line Managers, President’s Steering Committee, Friends of CUIB out of Cameroon, Faculty, Directors, Deans, Members of the Council, Vice Presidents, Provost, Representatives from Mentor Universities, Members of the Board of Trustee, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea and Presidents of other Partner Universities, Keynote Speaker, President and the Chancellor of CUIB.

Business Plan Challenge

It is an occasion for students to showcase their entrepreneurial skills through business ideas that are unique, feasible and sustainable to the crowd during the Commencement Exercises. It runs for two days and culminates with the Khumbah Venture Capital programme: where the first 3 students with the best business plans are given incubation capital of 1 million to thrive their business.

Commencement Opening Liturgy

In CUIB we put God first, in the middle and at the end of all our activities. We portray the God culture. It is a time of prayers, penance, praise and thanksgiving to God almighty for the blessings bestowed on the university in all aspects; a successful academic year. The event brings together the CUIB community and others.

Seniors in Transition Gala

It is an annual gathering of the seniors in transition and their guests in a convivial environment to socialize and build relations, while raising funds to build CUIB. It is managed by the Student Government Association and the seniors in transition.

BSc & HND Commencement Mass and Candle Light Processional

The thanksgiving and pledge to honor the Father in all things, in all seasons and in all ways, at every opportunity. This begins the reaffirmation process and the recapturing of memories of the Alma Mater. The mass is crowned with a candle light procession on the University’s campus.
